Title: General Intro/Leave of Absence Thread
Post by: RIIKYUUUN~<3 on July 25, 2011, 09:52:44 pm
This thread is for general short introductions or announcing short absences for those who don't feel the need to make a new topic after leaving for a week or two.

-Introductions here should be short and collected.
-Introductions can be longer in some case; I.E. Someone who was liked by many might have many people who welcome him/her.
-You can explain absences also.
-Leave of absences don't have to be short; as you might need a big post to explain why.

Okay so... As everyone knows, school is coming up... Pretty early for me though... As mine starts on the 10th, this Wednesday. So from then on I will be very inactive, excluding weekends.

I'm just saying this in advance so that no one is like, "Where the f*** did he go?". Though I doubt that anyone would say that in the first place but whatever...

High school?
High school sucks most of the times. Good luck with that. XD
At least you tell us what the fuck is going on. Not like Starrk who just disappeared.
I appreciate that.

Yeah, it was hard for him. He said he'd be trying to get on, but hasn't as of yet as far as I know. But he's in a better place now- hopefully on his way to his dream of being a trucker. He didn't make much of a deal of it when he left because he felt goodbyes were too painful.

My school is gonna suck. I can sense the insults that will be told to me because I went to Summer School.

Dude, I went to summer school. Really. And I'm one of the "geniuses". I was missing a few credits last summer because I left high school early. It's nothing to be ashamed of! In college, lots of people take summer classes too, I do pretty much every year.

Kloud made out with Michael, Michael was possessed by groudon, Ian was possessed by kyogre and was injured, ARC is dead And replaced with anon or Aron or something like that.

Kloud went batshit insane due to the amulet, Lan steals the amulet and is possessed, later this ends up possessing Michael. Aryeh takes the blue half of the amulet back to the real world and then returns. Kloud tries to kill everyone and cause Mt. Chimney to erupt, ARC ends up erasing her memories (for the most part) and then stops Groudon from awakening. The group then tries to help Kloud manage with the memory loss, and Michael admits he has feelings for Kloud, which causes some tension with Zip. Also, ARC died and a new prototype was made called Onny.

I think that's about it..

Details. Details!!

Kloud "fell" onto michael's lips, max stole the weird amulet that was broken and gave it to Ian, who got possessed by kyogre but saved by Aryeh. Michael got possessed by groudon but groudon doesn't have enough power to take over his whole body, only his right eye. Arc sacrificed himself to put groudon back to sleep

Hey everyone! I'm back, kinda. Stuff has been happening and I haven't had a lot of time for games, etc lately. If any of you still remember me, that's great. If any of you don't, I look forward to meeting you all. I have had other names in the past so some of you may only remember me by those.
Hey Brandon!  Welcome back to the new and revived Ludicom :D

[11:27:22 PM] Daniel McMillan: I'm not going to lie, I've considered it countless times
[11:27:36 PM] Daniel McMillan: But I look back on each time, very glad that I haven't

[11:31:52 PM] Daniel McMillan: this may seem like the best way to deal with it, but I assure you, it's not
[11:32:12 PM] Daniel McMillan: I also understand if it's something that you find very hard to bring up with somebody

I'm genuinely worried for you.  And this isn't just something we would regret if you go through with it, it's something that I'm certain you would.  What you're planning would hurt you more than anyone else.

If you read this, please, find someone to talk about it with.  A guardian, a teacher, a respected elder; someone with life experience that you trust, who you can talk about it with.

I'm just hoping nothing happened...

I wish I was online to talk, I understand the scenario and I have been in it twice.

I'm just hoping that the moment is at an end and life is not lost. Ending life is never the answer and those who think it have to be strong, not for others but themselves. At the end of the day, the only one a person can turn to is themselves because friends are gone with age, family is never always right, but even if they are not the most supportive you have one to turn to. Some people don't have this luxury so the difficulty is greater.

I promise you that your life holds worth, for no life is without reason as no person is without rational thought. Death is as punishing as life, you never asked for it, but it's the blessing and curse bestowed upon humanity and no one should tamper with that balance, especially when weighting your own life against all others, you as a person only holds your burden and that outweighs everyone in your way of life.

If by some miracle you read what I had to say, please, do take this into consideration; you have a life. Please live it fully, as all humans are not without obstacles. I promise you that you are very much loved and though you may think that their reasons may be selfish, it's not without reason just to make sure a flower isn't snipped before their time. They-, even we, only wish goodness onto your life a by being part of this community, your life outside and every where else, you talking this way will spark a fire that burns horrendously and no one will forget. I promise you that you are loved and being the person I am, I have no power other than the idea of prayer, a pray that makes me and many other people in your life hope you see that you have worth. You are wanted. You are loved!

I only hope you find a way to promote your life span and stay with those that love you. That's all everyone hopes...

Never forget, you are loved Abigail...

We removed Starrk from the premises, RP's started and fell through, hidden land is disturbing, Snape kills Dumbledore.

Also I think some old members came back.

That must be why I came back. A disturbance in the force in a positive way ;D

But anyway, I stopped using Evionet mostly because I decided to start getting more serious about God and my studies of the Word. In late August, I had the idea to cut off some things that took up my time at least until I got baptized. When September came, I stopped using Facebook and Evionet, limited some other stuff, and probably cut some other things that I can't remember. I thought that fast would only last a month but I realized I had some other stuff keeping me from God as well so it ended up being a lot longer(which was very beneficial). I had also considered completely cutting this community out of the picture because there was nothing here for me, and certain things made me hate being a part of it(i.e. a certain coyote) but I've been wanting to roleplay for the last week and I have some "creative works" that I'd like to share that don't really belong on my Tumblr (http://rsccooperinc.tumblr.com/).

But anyway, back to getting serious about God. Again, I wanted to cut off a lot of stuff that took up my time until I was baptized, and I finally was. I was born again on December 15th. I've made a lot of changes in the last year, especially in the last couple months. Don't expect any drama from me and if I do get dramatic/antagonistic, please challenge me on it because I'm trying to cut out any kind of sin in my life.

I haven't gotten Y yet because I don't have enough money to get it and my 3DS broke a while ago. That being said, I won't be spending time in the Gen 6 boards. I've tried to keep myself from seeing anything from the game other than the stuff that was pre-released, but being a Tumblr-er I've already seen a handful of stuff that I didn't want to see :P I won't keep up my Warehouse board because it would double the time I spent posting sprites on my blog, but if you guys like my stuff you can always look over there. If I ever make something really awesome I'll probably post it here somewhere.

I've become more literate with storytelling so I'll try to do more in roleplaying. I don't know if I want to get involved in the Words of Power thing at this stage of development but I'll try to be involved more in the future.

So, due to personal reasons, I'm going to take a hiatus from the site.  I just wanted it to be said, as an explanation for why I won't be on the forum.

I'd rather not go into details, but I can assure you all that it's nothing major.  I just can't really deal with the site right now, and I'm not sure if/when I'll be active again.

So yeah, just letting you guys know.

I'll still be on Skype, but I can't promise that I'll always be able to reply.

Honestly, the reason is that the forum is kind of becoming a source of stress for me.  And on top of that, I hardly have anything to say, and I don't see much of a point of bothering myself by constantly checking recent activity.

Not to mention, I'm not exactly going through a very easy phase of my life, and I often find myself saying rather irrational things out of stress/frustration that I later regret mentioning, and a forum really isn't the best place to deal with that.

I might come back later, but for now I just honestly feel that it'll be better for me to cut the forum from my life.  Whether that will be permanent or not, I can't determine.

I'm sorry but this site has really lost its color to me. The inactivity, it hurts. Admittedly I haven't done anything to fight it, but I haven't had the time recently, I've had irl things to do.

I'll never forget this community. I've never ever felt more emotionally attached to an online community. This site was there for me during my depression. It served as an amazing distraction. I honestly loved some of the members so much. There was once a time where I thought this community would last ages and ages and it would get to a point where everyone's been around for like 8 years and everyone's still friends and actively posting on PPN, but that dream went wrong in so many ways. And I guess after moving from PPN to Ludicom, then to Evionet and back to Ludicom, soon here will be the community's final grave. Our roots, PPN forums, doesn't even exist anymore. We've had an unforgettable adventure together but unfortunately all good things eventually come to an end.

Goodbye. <3

Yes, we have.

But that leaves us a choice, like I've said before- do we stay as we are and let things reach a peaceful, quiet end, or we change everything about the site and our attitudes, and hope for the best. I'm fine with either. But as it sits now, I think everyone's watching and waiting for things to end. That's alright- we've had a helluva run. :) I'm at least going to be watching around until the end if that's what people decide to do.

You know, it really comes down to attitude and effort. Everyone says things are going south but I don't see anybody doing anything about it. You say the site's dying? No, it's everyone else's passions that are dying. Do something about it. If everyone invites 1 internet friend, that'll double the forum's active memberlist.

I've also been considering leaving the site as well. There's no reason for me to be here, since I don't get involved in Social anymore, I don't post my sprites/graphics here, and the roleplaying has really just died.
Though I've never been a core member, this community has been somewhat central to my internet life for the last five years. Being here has helped me to shape my online persona and etiquette, encouraged and influenced my interest in Pokemon Spriting, graphic design, Fakemon design, and storywriting. For that, I'm very grateful for this medium of expression.
I'll be checking in on you guys for the next week, but I've transitioning to PokeCommunity for the past week. If any of you would like to stay connected there, I'm open to it. There's a kind of "group" thing going on there and we could have a PPN/Ludicom/Evionet group. The roleplaying there is pretty great; there are two or three starting up right now and still open. The RP community seems pretty dedicated(and educated) as well.

Maybe we could migrate to a new forum with new people and a bigger userbase? We don't have to be the owners of the site to be with each other you know. I don't want to lose everyone. I was fine with leaving lcom for as long as I did simply because I knew you guys would always be here when I needed someone to talk to but now that everyones leaving and no one wants to share contact info, maybe we need to think outside the box to save our friendship?

In theory that seems like a good idea, the only thing is that most of us only come here because we know the others are there. We're not discussing Pokemon enough, and I don't see myself joining another Pokemon website just to spam the social boards. And with that many other members, I would not feel comfortable talking about my life like I can do here.

But we still know a lot about it and can talk about it and stuff, even if we havent played it in a long time. And with all the new people, I think it would prolly be the jumpstart many of us need to get back into playing pokemon and doing pokemon related things.

I've tried joining other forums but it never really worked out.  I became part of this community at the right time with the right amount of people and in the right frame of mind to join.  I haven't been able to replicate that.
Just pretend all the people on the forum are joining our community :D

Conversations on Skype are as volatile as they are on the ToT. And I don't see why I would join a forum just to say hi by PM.
I'm done with Pokemon. Haven't played since HeartGold, and don't plan to. I'm here because of you people.
And I am not looking for new Internet friends. It's an outdated concept. I spent too much time already trying to be far from real life people, I moved onto a newfound love for socialness.

Well you dont have to have everyone in the same convo. :(

You could say by posting and telling errbody what its like working for EA and crushing some dreams at the same time.

Look for more french internet friends and maybe meet up and do stuff?

There's Facebook for that. And texting.
I can't tell much about EA really.
I'm not looking for French people at all really. As for meeting with people, it hasn't worked up to now, and I don't really want to search online while there are so many people out there that I already ignore.

But I dont have your number for texting :c

Why not? D:

But like, if you meet other french folk you can learn how to go out and do... french things. Like be all high and mighty when someone pronounces quebec wrong or eat french bread. You can socialize more :D

I'll check if my plan has unlimited texts in US as well. I'll PM you my number if it does. EDIT: Nope. 40 cents/message.
NDA.
I'm trying to get away from Quebec as much as possible actually. I'd be handing with French people from France. Which are the most hated people in Europe for some weird reason.

Cause they're just plain stupid. Their news channels are even worse than US ones too.
Did you hear that report they made about QC?
It was hilarious how dumb it was.

Streotypically, French people are snobby and hate everyone who isn't french.

From what i've heard and seen, this trait isn't very far off from people from quebec, either.

What we don't like is that every French citizen MUST know English but English citizen just go 'fuck off I'm not learning French' when we are clearly a French province.
What we don't like is English people trying to tell us how to live.

You also hate it when people dont pronounce it as KEBEK, and become very angry when it happens.

The stereotype in America of French people is that they're cowardly, snobby and will hate you simply for being American (only reason I know this is because my parents truly believe that the stereotype is an accurate representation of the French).

Granted, I'm sure that there's a handful of people who got that stereotype, but I'm assuming most French don't fit it. Just like every other racial/country stereotype, there has to be some grain of truth in it all, but I guess stereotypes wouldn't work as well if there wasn't. I've never hung around French people before so I'll keep my mouth shut now xD

As for the language thing, I agree with you Mag. In America, I desperately wish that they'd just make the official language English and make people learn it because that's the main language anyways... xD But lots of people only speak Spanish or Somali- if the Spanish speaking folks talk semi-slowly I can understand the basic gist of it most of the time, but I can't understand a luck of Somali. Since they aren't "required" to learn English though, many people don't , or don't learn it well , so we have to have translator lines and all that (especially important at hospitals, like where I work ). I think that every area should have a preset language and if you live there , you learn it. I mean, if I moved to Germany, I'd learn how to speak German, right? xD

Eh , enough outta me . I'm sure enough people are mad at me now anywho, xP

yeah I agree and do have to say that the Mexican immigrants expecting the Americans already there to learn Spanish rather than learning English themselves seems a tad selfish from what I saw.  It'd be like a bunch of Chinese people moving to France and not learning French and expecting the French to learn Mandarin.  It's a bit silly to go somewhere and expect people to change for you.  You gotta respect where you've moved to.  But of course if an American says this, they are considered racist.  Which isn't necessarily the case because likewise if somebody moved to Mexico then it'd be a good idea to learn Spanish rather than making them learn something else.  So yeah I think people should respect where they go rather than trying to change it and that goes for everybody :)

I personally don't mind if you don't say Kebek. Lol.
It's just the right pronouncing dating back to the natives.
I can oversee English people pronouncing it bad if they actually speak or try to speak French.
The ones I hate are the ones who don't care one bit and just force us to speak English.

Exactly! I don't mind immigrants- they add new ideas and cultural aspects, no matter where you are. But any immigrant should respect the land they immigrate to and try their best to learn the language and customs (they don't need to practice them, more so they understand). If someone from out of country is trying, I'm generally a lot nicer to them than to someone who's blatantly disrespecting things.

I've considered moving out of the US, but I have no clue where I'd wanna move to.

English is horrible seriously. But we have to go with majority.
French and other latin languages take gender into account, which makes it easier to identify if a friend or cousin is female or male.
I have been told by many that English (american) was made so that people wouldn't have trouble writing a word they hear. Then explain bough, cough/tough, dough/borough. Pronounces "bao", "coff/toff", "doe/borrow".
English makes no sense, no more than French does. But as you have learnt it first, you understand it better. English makes not more sense to a French speaker than English does to an English speaker.
All my high school was spent learning the verb exceptions in English. Why make a rule if half the words don't respect it then?

Taking gender into account is a horrible idea, why would an inanimate object be male or female? Not to mention all the accents in French which are just plain annoying to remember. Obviously you would learn this were you to speak French fluently, and I'm not saying that English is a perfect language either, but it's by far the most widely spoken language so I don't see why people complain when they have to learn it. It doesn't prevent you from also learning your native language.. you can just communicate better with the majority now.

To be honest I wish everyone could just globally agree on a language that would be used by everyone, then there would be no language barriers. Of course everyone would disagree and want their own language to be compulsory, but since the majority already know English then I guess that would ultimately be the chosen universal language. I hate it when people call the English/Americans lazy for not learning other languages, though, because I really don't see the point in learning a less widely spoken language than that of your native tongue. If you were to encounter a foreigner, then it's quite likely that they will already speak basic English. Its not that we're lazy, there is just little point in learning a language other than English unless you are living in another country.

I've never had to use french in my life to do anything.
Same goes with pretty much my whole family.
My Grandpa and Grandma don't know any french other than Bonjour, yet they have great lives here and stuff.

Learning another language other than English is only necessary if your going to a country that has the other language as a national language.

Living without English is hard, Living without french, spanish, abrabic, etc. is easy.

Not saying its terrible to learn other languages though. It's good.

What is wrong with giving gender to objects? Why would someone say about (his/she/their - see how difficult it is) car "She's my beauty" then? Giving gender proves the power of the language, and mixes logic and phonemes with it.
People complain about learning English when it's not their first language. English speakers can't conceive this idea. Why would we have to learn something that's not ours? Look I have my car, let me drive it. I don't care about yours. You need a reason to learn a language, and being understood by everyone is not usually a driving force when we're young. Proportionally speaking, by learning Mandarin you could reach as many people as by learning English, and Spanish is not far behind.
My driving force has been a girl. And most Asian girls are cuter than most American girls, so as I said, learn Mandarin!
You're just happy to have to learn only one of them, because trust me it's like learning two kinds of mathematics that don't fit with one another. It's a nightmare.

I've never had to use french in my life to do anything.

You live in an English-speaking town, go to an English-speaking school. Bravo. Had I not chosen to go to school in English, I could have lived my entire life in French without problem. My grandparents don't know any English other than Hi, yet they have great lives here and stuff.
The world does not revolve around English. English is the American dream that everyone tries to follow in order to be cool (you'd be surprised how much French and Spanish people use English words they don't understand just to feel cool).
Unspoken, unwritten language is more than 50% of our communication in life (well except for those who spend their days on their computer). With that, you can go anywhere.

Oh also, French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish all have a lot of similarities, and we can understand each other. So Latin is actually a widely spoken language. And there's so much to see in Western Europe, plus in remote areas they generally don't speak English. And still live awesome lives.

@ Rosim

I never said knowing English improves your quality of life, or not knowing it worsens it. I was simply stating that the majority of countries across the world speak English, so it's the most logical to learn. I'm not being 'happy' that I only have to learn one of them, I'm just saying if you were to learn only one language then logic dictates it be English.

Also, giving gender to an object is ridiculous because it is neither male or female. It's just an object; it has no gender. When people describe a car or boat as a 'she' that's just to state admiration, in actual linguistic terms it is pointless.

I make nearly $30/hour and I'm due for a raise already. Don't want to give that up just yet... so I'll be staying here awhile longer. xD Besides, the US isn't an awful place to live. It has its positives and negatives, just like anyplace else. If I moved to another country, I'd want to research it a bit more just to ensure that I have a proper understanding of what it's like, so that I don't end up doing something I regret.

I thought the same thing, which is why I have done nothing xP

As for the rules of other languages, I kinda tend to give them a free pass. I mean, some English rules are stupid or odd when learning the language, so who am I to judge? I'm actually for learning as many languages as you're able- it's a valuable commodity.

Giving genders to objects has been shown to promote sexism, so theres one reason why it's bad.
