Earlier today, Nintendo released their annual report, which contained the total number of copies sold of the main series fourth and fifth generation Pokémon games, as of March 2011.

Game(s)    Sales to date (global)
Pokémon Diamond and Pearl    17.57 million
Pokémon Platinum    7.43 million
Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver    11.90 million
Pokémon Black and White    11.51 million

because it is one game and it's being compared to duos of games, also not everyone wanted the third version, they just suck with DP

Third version always sells less copies than the first two... Mostly because people will have already bought one or more of the first paired versions and see no point to getting the third.

It's sort of like a director's cut... I guess.

Oh wait- Yes Emerald... 'Cause at one point Ruby was the most purchased game of the year... In 2005 I think...
