Title: WARLORDS: Registration Begins Here
Post by: Jay117 on November 05, 2013, 10:25:07 pm
Greetings fellow Heads of State!

I am Chancellor Miles Lawliet of the Republic of Lejenda! I come to you all today with salutations and wonderful news! As we begin our combined tale in the near future I am calling upon you all to participate in this new coalition today. Please, sign below with your names and the nation which you represent!

May Arceus be with you all.
--------------------------------------------------------------

Hello Ludicom!

It's the moment we've been waiting for. The official Warlords sign ups are here. As of right now, we are just gathering names for writers and fighters that want to participate. I will be posting the nation's list below and please go right ahead and call dibs on the one(s) of your choice. If you see a certain type/region not represented, shoot me a message and we can write up a country for you to run. I can gladly accommodate.

As for now though, we have several nations for you to choose from, several already chosen by other players. So go on! Sign up with your name, your character's name, a picture or description, and the nation you'd like to represent. You can choose to leave backstory and personality traits, or you can do it my way and write it out as the story comes along. Let your character grow with you. Cheers!

---------------------------------------------------

NATIONS

Lejenda- A small island Republic filled with small time crooks, big time thieves, risk taking bounty hunters, and high flying dragon types. Anything rare and even some pokemon you would consider myths eventually ends up here.
Played by myself, Jay117

Navihielo- An Arctic civilization raised from the descendants of Articuno. Wise, virtuous, and long-lived, these people make their homes among the ice types and tundra walkers in the area.
Played by Kloud

Agi Zeronia- A desert region with blistering hot days and frightfully cold nights. A nomadic culture with a central hub city defined by centuries of culture. It's economy is fueled by the hardworking, international caravans and the various stone and gem mines in the area.
Played by Kinfin

Tortuga- A large kingdom in the Southern Tropics, this archipelago is ruled by a popular Bacchanalian monarch and his Blastoise. Various sea and coastal beach type pokemon are found here.
OPEN

Blazi- a smaller island to the north of Tortuga whose entirety is made up of a large volcano. The civilization at it's base makes up this entire nation, as different tribes occupy different sections of the island. A coalition of tribal leaders elects a supreme head every ten years. Fire types and many cave area pokemon are found here.
Richie

The Republic of Faore- An oligarchy obsessed with the physical. A beautiful country ruled by the beautiful. Wealthy and patriotic, but with a small standing military. A wealth of elegant Psychic and Faery types are found here.
OPEN

Terraria- A grassland with many areas of dense forests. Several cities loom in the center of Serennes largest country. A popularly elected president rules over it. Many grass types, normal types, and jungle pokemon are found here.
Played by Silver

Venoth- A former great nation now plagued by ruin and destruction. There is no organized government and no one knows what happens within it's borders. Allegedly, there is a local group of highwaymen led by a default ruler who terrorize what is left of the former great society. At its height, Venoth had a central hub city and was surrounded by swampy marshes and dark forests. Mostly poison and dark types are found within the ruins.
Played by Queriter
---------------------------------------------

Again,
NAME
CHARACTER NAME
COUNTRY
APPEARANCE/PICTURE

That's all that is required. If you have any questions, PM me. Kloud is going to have a thread where you can get team design help and the likes. Hope to see you all on the battlefield!!

I already told Jay, but just so other participants know, Blazi is now OPEN. I switched my choice to Terraria.

I'll come up with a character name and design soon.

this is that RP that requires real battling yes?
Can simulators be used?

Title: Re: WARLORDS: Registration Begins Here
Post by: Jay117 on November 06, 2013, 01:12:11 pm
It does require real battling. And we have not allowed simulators in the past. We are allowing legal (slightly different from "legit") pokemon though to make team building easier.
Can you not wifi battle?

I highly dislike wifi battling.
It's too much grinding when im not using my story team.

I know how you feel. Part of the fun of the game though is building your team.

Victoria amat percuriam.

And it's super easy to build a good team on Gen 6. And you have basically two months to do it. And of course the rest of the participants help each other out. I know I've gotten help with my previous teams from Kloud and former players in the past.

Title: Re: WARLORDS: Registration Begins Here
Post by: Kinfin on November 06, 2013, 02:30:43 pm
Grinding shouldn't be an issue if we play with Normal Rules (Setting all levels to 50). All that should matter is EV training and move sets.

Title: Re: WARLORDS: Registration Begins Here
Post by: Jay117 on November 06, 2013, 02:35:11 pm
Also that. It's really not hard to assemble a team.

Title: Re: WARLORDS: Registration Begins Here

For the record, a Legit Pokemon was bred and raised by hand, while a legal Pokemon was synthetically made but still within the guidelines. Even though they don't work for gen 6 yet, you can easily make gen 5 and older pokemon with a Pokemon Generator and then send it over once Bank is out. We are waiting on Bank, right?

Yup! Just giving people the (plenty of) time they need to prepare. We will probably start on January 1st or December 31st.

Just checking on something. Will Mega Evolving be a thing in this gen of Warlords? I'll need to change my team if the answer is no.

Title: Re: WARLORDS: Registration Begins Here
Post by: Jay117 on November 06, 2013, 03:09:59 pm
That's a good question... I'll mull that over with Kloud.

Title: Re: WARLORDS: Registration Begins Here
Post by: Kloud on November 06, 2013, 03:13:47 pm
I'm fine with Mega Evolving if we make it more Warlords-ey. So, instead of a Mega Ring, some other explanation. It's either that, or don't even have it.

Title: Re: WARLORDS: Registration Begins Here
Post by: Jay117 on November 06, 2013, 03:17:08 pm
Any ideas? Maybe a religious thing? Hmmm...

Title: Re: WARLORDS: Registration Begins Here
Post by: Kinfin on November 06, 2013, 03:20:28 pm
Well, the Mega Stone needs to be a thing just because it's a hold item, but rather than a Mega Ring, maybe it's a reason for only WarLORDS to be able to Mega Evolve. An unspoken rite passed on from leader to leader. And so if you have say, a right hand man in any nation, they can't use ME at all.

You can't send them over via Bank because it has a block in place to prevent Pokémon made by something like PokeSav from being transferred.

Also, a couple of questions....

1) What is the actual plot? I take it we go around fighting each other, but is it some type of war or something?
2) Do we need to use the countries that you've posted, or can we make our own? For example people from Blazi only use fire types, so that would mean I would not be able to use any none-fire types if I chose to control that region, right?

This RP does look very good, but I don't really like the idea of having Pokémon and Country restrictions. If you can make your own then that's great, but I don't really want to be forced to use a specific set of Pokémon, as in I think I'd enjoy it a lot more if we can use a mix of Pokémon types if we choose to.

Title: Re: WARLORDS: Registration Begins Here
Post by: Jay117 on November 07, 2013, 11:26:59 am
I haven't revealed the actual plot yet. I will be posting more teasers as time passes, but the main plot itself has yet to be revealed.

If you want, you can design a country/region and the pokemon that go along with it, I'd be happy to work with you. What kind of region/type did you have in mind?

Title: Re: WARLORDS: Registration Begins Here
Post by: Kloud on November 07, 2013, 01:23:03 pm
Country restrictions are there to make it more realistic- and I personally find them fun. Most countries have access to 1-3 types, and maybe Pokemon that'd fit in (for example, Navihielo, my country, is mostly ice types, but there are some water types that fit in better in cold climates, tundra stalkers like Absol, and some Pokemon that you'd find in/around mines). The idea is to make the best out of that limited assortment!

It also encourages alliances, and makes battles a bit more interesting. As someone who can speak from experience, yes, it is possible to overcome a nation you have a weakness to if you play your cards right. You just need to plan your team well and play the best you can!

Title: Re: WARLORDS: Registration Begins Here
Post by: Silver on November 07, 2013, 05:45:03 pm
I love the restrictions. It will make each character's team more thematic and fitting in the story. I also think that mega evolutions can be quite dramatic and fitting. It would be cool if each character had one Mega in their team, although I definitely wouldn't make it mandatory. I just feel like a companion/main Pokemon partner is a cool idea for RPs.

Also, since my main types are grass, normal, and bug, could I use other Pokemon that would fit into my region? The Pokemon I am thinking of specifically is Florges. Jay says it's alright, but I want to get everyone else's opinion.

Also, we discussed that we're allowing 8 Pokemon per character. 6 per team, obviously, and 2 subs that you can switch in and out each battle depending on who you're facing.

I think that'd be fine, it makes sense.

And yeah, I wouldn't see any issue with that. If you were a lord, I mean, you'd be likely to own more than 6.

It's a good point. I don't actually see the point of restricting the number of pokemon you can use. If you train it and it fits, go for it.

The restrictions add purpose to nations. A Torterra would never live in Navihielo for example. With a limited pallet of types, you have to think more about strategy and synergy. You can still win when you have a disadvantage if you're smart (Glacia's victory in Legenda for example). It's kinda like in Conquest where Pokemon are clearly accustomed to certain environments and they wouldn't live in a place that was uninhabitable to them. Your types fit your nation.

Example, A highly urbanized nation would have steel and normal types, but if it also had parks in it, it could feature grass types as well.

Also, you can always facilitate with dual types and certain caviats. For example, Navihielo is home of deadly blizzards, so Absol can appear there. Agi Zeronia is a desert, so it's not unlikely for a Maractus, Sigilyph, Darmaniten, or Cacturn to show up.

Also, we'll see how well that works out. I worst case, I'll breed my Pokemon that I gen and make the Pokemon legit, but Nintendo's tried this before. It hasn't worked yet.

If we drop the RoF and give some wiggle room as far as fairy types go, we only need one more player.

I guess. It was mostly for Psychic types really. Because Azumaril could be in Tortuga, Mawile in Blazi or your nation, etc etc.
I think my sister wanted to play a Poison/Dark nation. Venoth has a leader!

She should make an account on the site just for confusion's sake. (If you share a computer, just have one of you on Chrome, one on Firefox)

In which case, I say, Jay, Update the first post and replace the RoF with Venoth.

Okay, I drew a much more accurate pic of Shugo...
But my camera decided to be fuzzy, so I can't exactly get it to you guys.
So I'll describe his look :V

Same dirty blonde hair, getting darker the further down it goes.
He has a red jacket, that he keeps open and fluttering behind his arms, he also pinned numerous studs on the shoulders and lining the stitching, though, he did this mainly to appease his advisers who told him he didn't look very 'kingly'.
He has numerous studded belts covering his waist.
Wears beige pants and brown shoes.

I'll be on the lookout for any of the Pokemon in your team. Also, does your sister want that Muk? I can breed her one real quick, but the elemental punches aren't available until PokeBank.

We could easily wait it out one week after bank is out. Just do story stuff and avoid conflict for a short while

I use Payback as the 4th move on mine. It has near perfect coverage. They're easy to breed for anyway, since Speed is irrelevant.

We could and should. I'm sure people will need time to breed/train some Pokemon that are only available from PokeBank.

Hey! Wow, I've been gone a pretty long time, sorry. But anyways-
Sam is actually an rping friend of mine and I can personally vouch for her writing! I brought her in because I thought she would make a really great addition to the rp.
And your whole point is totally spot on and everything, but the explanation for it is actually that we met in a different rping community where the OOC talk is super casual and all, you know?
But it's all good. She's been rping something of seven years or the like? (alsosorryforbuttinginsamIjustdidn'tknowifyou'dbebackuntilsundayandallsoIthoughtI'deexplainbutIdon'twanttomakeyoulookweakinfrontofthepack???sosorryyeah)

Anyways-!! The actual point of this was to apologize for the fact that I haven't posted any character information and nation history among various other things, but a heads up I'm working on something. You can blame procrastination. Or me, if you'd like, but preferably procrastination.

Jay gave me permission to control that Rolland guy from Featherland. Since he's a buffoon, I fealt inspired to write comedically for him. Plus it gives Jay one less NPC he needs to worry about.

Looking forward to the clash in Venoth that's on it's way. It'll really decide Nox's fate. And given Nox is the only person who's side of the conflicts aren't clear cut yet, it's important.

Makes me think of Fallout New Vegas. You have the chain of command ruling with an iron fist in Miles, the one man above all others in Shugo, and the trying to improve everyone Kien, plus the Wild Card Glacea. It makes Nox kinda the Courior.

I'm quite interested to see how she plays this out. It's a big moment for you, Glacea, and Venoth.

What it'll come down to is how receptive Nox is to the Speach Kien'll give and weather or not a fight breaks out. There is the benifit of Kien's former thiefness to potentially form a bond there. That and Kien's a person of reason. But if Nox fights instead of decides to yeild, this'll turn ugly and be the first actual battle of the season.

That'll be fun either way.

I still so, so scared to battle Glacea. I have to find a way to write in Lugia and Ho-oh again. xD

Well, you killed off Roland, so that gives Legenda the chance to potentially fetch Zapdos. Moltres and Articuno are already for sure involved in this plot. So there's Lugia if you can make it work somehow.

Wut? Why are you scared of Glacea? Her team is like.... Full of holes xD Granted I'm expanding it but still. :P

Zapdos was the original mascot of Featherland... hm...

I might do an arc with Miles and Zapdos. I write about Lugia and Ho-oh because they were the original partner pokemon of Damien Prince's character.

Oh... I dunno, maybe because my entire team is composed of dragons? xD

If that's the case, and if Jay's thinking what I think he's thinking, personally, if I were in Shugo's position, I wouldn't trust the biggest threat to my goals. Shugo seems like the type who, if he were totally aware that you posed a threat to him, and he wanted you gone, and you were presenting yourself to him, he'd have no problem accepting the down payment of the job, and then shanking you.

But Kinfin, my boy, if you remember correctly, in the RPs that starred Shugo and Kloud both, Kloud was the biggest immediately threat to him, as she was the most knowledgeable, and he (tried) to side with her in the first, and did in the second :V

(Oh, wait... He tried to kill her in the first one)

So even though this is kinda dead atm, Kinfin made a Dark Souls character based on Shugo. When going through character class selection, he went over a class called "Deprived"- which basically put the very accurate model into nothing but a loincloth.

Long story short, I actually laughed so hard I puked all over the futon xD Made me think of that first scene Shugo is in... x.x

[When it was Announced to the People of Agi Zeronia that their soldiers were preparing for war, a play was composed. This is the most iconic musical number from that play. Singing is written with Italics]

(Stage Set, five in the morning, Kien and his Visir stand in front of a window in the palace War Room)

Royal Visir: My lord, are you sure it's safe to mobolize our troops. We have but one city, and should it fall, so does Agi Zeronia.
[Music starts playing]

Kien: I don't fear for my people for my people have no reason to fear. For now, I'll stay here, and that's all the defense we should need... look out the window with me...

The Sand blows white in the desert tonight,
Not a creature to be seen
A nation in isolation
And it looks like I'm the king

The wind is howling like a sandstorm making stride
They said that peace would last, turns out that they lied...

'Don't dare step out, don't dare be seen
Be the good boy, you always have to be
Don't make them want don't let them know'
Well now they know

Let them Come, Let them Come
Not hiding out anymore
Let them Come, Let them Come
I fear naught beyond the border

Because I don't care
If they try to stay
Let the storm march on
The war never bothered me anyway

(Musical Intermission)

It's funny how some distance
Makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled us
Won't get to me at all

It's time to show what I can do
To push my limits and break through
No man nor beast can capture me. We're free.

Let them Come, Let them Come
For I'm one with the Sand and Sky
Let them Come, Let them Come
They'll never see me Die

Here We Stand
And Here We stay
Let the Storm March On!

(musical intermission)

Our power comes straight from the air and from the ground
Our souls are spiraling in sandy shrapnel all around
And one small grain tears through foes just like a deadly blast
'Cause fear is not for me. The past is in the past

Let them Come, Let them Come
And I'll Rise like the Breaking Dawn
Let them Come, Let them Come
That fearful boy is gone

Here We Stand
And Here We Stay
Let the Storm March ON!
The War never bothered me anyway
