The orchestral highlights of Ghibli films are great to listen to.

Maybe. I mean, I'm not a huge boozehound, despite my heritage.

When I'm 21 I'll celebrate with a glass of good old Coke-a-cola. I don't think I'll ever want alcohol Tongue

I haven't cried at a movie. Like.... Ever. Just....wow.

I've noticed myself getting more emotional while watching movies in the last year. Especially Ghibli movies. I got pretty teary-eyed while watching Frozen as well

By the way, I turn 21 (or 12) in February. Not sure how I'm gonna celebrate.

A beer would be the mainstream way Tongue

Those could be false ages you never know. Whose to say im not 55 and just have an obsession over Pokemon and talking to kids on forums hehe...eww thats just disturbing to even pretend to be serious about that .-.

Anyways im 16. Birthday is in March and the first one to guess the day gets a free cookie c:

If someone lies on their profile then why would they tell the truth here, silly?
38  General / Social / Re: How old are you? Please post :D on: December 24, 2013, 01:07:21 am
I'm 18. You know people have their ages posted in their profiles, right?
39  General / Social / Re: Thread Of Topiclessness [Current Era: Radioactive Crittens] on: December 23, 2013, 11:37:42 pm
holy crap wat

I have a bad habit of assuming that internet friends ages are still the same as when I asked them four years ago.

omg.

now I have come to realization that everyone on this forum may be older than I think..

How old do you people think I am? I'm very curious. No looking at my profile.

My favorites are My Neighbor Totoro(mostly because it was the first and because it's Ghibli's mascot film) and Princess Mononoke. I had no idea what I was getting into when I rented PM until a friend was telling me about people's limbs getting cut off XD I took a couple breaks while watching the movie, it was the most intense 3 hours I've had in a while!

Oh, and you guys know "Pokemon Jade"?

Now remember Shishigami(The Forest Spirit of PM)?

Also, there are some people making a live-action movie about Princess Mononoke called "Wolf Girl"
Quote
Wolf Girl is a live action fan film inspired by the Studio Ghibli masterpiece Princess Mononoke. It is a modern-day fairytale and a glimpse of the world today if the events of Princess Mononoke were real human history.

I've got a lot of problems with this. Mainly, the fact that it's "a glimpse of the world today if the events of Princess Mononoke were real human history." PM is supposed to be actual history(like historical folklore); I'm fairly sure in the beginning the narrator says that it takes place when the gods were still alive.
41  General / Creative General / Secret Santa-The Real Secret on: December 23, 2013, 09:04:05 pm
Today I had my own idea for the real story of Santa

Santa is a title passed down through a line of elves. It is given to the firstborn son of the last Santa. The title can only be given to an elf from the Claus line. Santa is essentially the high king of all elven kind.
Santa Claus isn't a toy maker, but is actually a source of incredible influence on all kinds of product innovations. In fact, the line of elves that have held the title of Santa have been responsible for most of the innovations in toys, video gaming, automation, entertainment technology, and multiple other forms of technology for the last millenium. Half of all elves live in the Northern regions of the world. Over the last century, the rest of the population has spread to the rest of the world, with a large concentration in Antarctica. The community of elves have been around for thousands of years, with a purpose of making life easier and more enjoyable for both themselves and humans. 95% of elves are dedicated to this purpose. All elven technology has been a year to a few decades ahead of human technology for centuries. Since the World Spread Act of 1818, elves have had a network of advanced communication throughout the world. Elves have kept in contact with the descendants of the man that discovered them and have helped secretly influence technology through them. Such men that have helped this influence are Steve Jobs, Ralph Baer, and Henry Ford.
Elves are actually a separate race of humans. They are much more like the elves described in fantasy like the Lord of the Rings and Dungeons & Dragons instead of the Christmas elves from many children's stories. The first contact between humans and elves was made in the first century B.C. by a man whose descendants have kept the secret to themselves ever since. They didn't discover the title of Santa until a century later. At the current era of the elven world, there were multiple Santas that were known for their exceptional compassion for both elves and humans. They were also known for their involvement in spreading the Christian faith in the first few centuries of its existence.
Some clergymen of the family that kept the elven secret decided in the fourth century A.D. to use the idea of Santa Claus and the elves to bring gifts to children in need. The elves originally saw the story spread by these men as a threat to their secrecy, but soon, the story became cluttered with myths added by both men of the secret-keeping family and of men outside the family. Eventually, the story was nothing like the reality, so the elven secret was safe.

Loved his films ever since I saw my first (Spirited Away). Since DVDs/BluRays are a tad expensive, I don't own them all yet but I'm working on it. Right now we've just purchased Wolf Children and plan on watching it together tomorrow.
Really? Because he just released a new one a short while back. The Wolf Children.

The Wolf Children isn't from Miyazaki. It almost looks like it would be, but it's from Mamoru Hosoda and Studio Chizu

He's making one last before retiring about a pilot or something.

That one's in translation for US release right now, and his son is taking over directing the Studio.

Sunday, September 1, 2013, Hayao Miyazaki held a press conference in Venice, confirming his retirement saying: “I know I’ve said I would retire many times in the past. Many of you must think, `Once again.’ But this time I am quite serious..." Now it is time for Hayao's son, Goro Miyazaki, to take the torch and follow in his father's footsteps

I also tried watching My Neighbors the Yamadas. I said "tried" because I couldn't watch the whole thing. There really wasn;t anything going on; it was like watching an animated version of reading a comic strip every week. Multiple small stories, with a couple stories that were about ten minutes mixed in.

There's got to be some other Ghibli lovers out there. Until a couple months ago I always thought that I loved Ghibli movies, but I had only seen My Neighbor Totoro and Ponyo. Since then, I've added The Secret Life of Arietty, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki's Delivery Service, The Cat Returns, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and Whisper of the Heart to my watch list(it's been a great couple of months).

Discuss any of your favorite Ghibli movies or any of the ones you plan on watching here! Make sure you use the spoiler code, however!

The next movie I plan on watching is Castle in the Sky but I'm waiting for my friend to come back from break before I rent it.

And here are some Ghibli sprites that I've done
(she's a little short Tongue)

Is anyone still interested in trying to get the Community League finished? Link

Or at least we could have a tournament on Showdown? I really like this team I have.
