The Sonic Topic

I figure with Sonic's 20th Anniversary game out and all, a topic like this would be appropriate. Feel free to talk about games in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, but try not to argue. I know that opinions on games in the franchise wildly vary, such as my personally thinking Unleashed is an awesome game while other people despise it, but try and be nice.

That having been said, I'g going out to purchase a Used copy of Unleashed today. I've rented the damn thing enough times I might as well.

Swear this topic used to have more to it. Meh. Anyway, here's the reasons why the series isn't dead. (Inspired by a debate with Aryeh)

The Sonic Series went through a dark age, starting with Shadow the Hedgehog in '05. THe only good games to come out in that time were the Riders Spin offs (Not the Wii versions) and the Hand held games (And I know most people hate Dark Brotherhood, but they aren't RPG gamers)

The dark Age arguably ended somewhere in the mess of time with Black Knight and Unleashed, but was absolutely done by Colours.

So, why were the games that came out between '05 to '10? Let's review

Shadow the Hedgehog was an unnessessary attempt to be dark and edgy

Sonic Genesis was Laggy as F*CK

Sonic 06 was Broken and unfinished (Plus it had Meg in it)

Sonic Rivals made your thumb hurt (But the game itself was fine)

Sonic and the Secret Rings didn't control well.

Sonic and the Black Knight was too combat oriented (And the combat didn't work too well)

Sonic Unleashed had the Warehog that people didn't accept (Dispite being perfectly functional beat em up mechanics)

And then we Reach Colours, which was under-advertised and didn't sell well due to lack of faith in the series.

Rush, Rush Adventure, Colours, and now Lost World are really bringing the series back to glory. I hope this streak of goodness stays around for a while.

Rush actually came out in '05, so it was lost in the sea of crap. As was RA. Colours, Generations, and now Lost World are trying to get the limelight back. (Personally think Unleashed positively contributes too but oh well if nobody agrees)

I know. People like Rush. People just didn't buy rush. Blaze the Cat was a new charecter, The Advance Series on the GBA, while good, floundered for popularity, and by the time '06 came out, people didn't want anything to do with Blaze or Silver (Which is why the only games Silver's been main in since then is Rivals)
