I'm gonna start this with a first Impression of Black Flag

I'm a few hours into the main game's story, and I'm loving it. It's a major improvement on all the old systems. Here's my examples.

Combat is the same as ever for the most part, but Edward's Dual Weilding makes his movement faster than any Assassin yet.
Gunplay is amazingly improved. Mostly because with some effort, you can have 4 flintlocks on you at any point in time, allowing for actual rapid fire before a relatively short reload.
Money gain is nicely paced. No lazy income system like Ezio worked with. No annoying hunting and convoys like Connor had. Just good old fashioned piracy. On that note...
Naval combat is VASTLY improved. At it's core, it's the same, but you can combo certain weapons really well (I find cannon into swivel works quite well if you aim well). Add that to the boarding of enemy ships, and it's just fun to be a pirate.
Edward moves really fast. Granted, so do your enemies, but you really feel like you're covering ground.
Climbing buildings/structures feels more fluid, especially since there's diagonal movement.
Free-running, while still as finicky as ever, is just as fluid as the climbing.

The story is an interesting one too. Without spoiling too much, I can safely say that Edward was not born Assassin or Templar, making for an interesting character just sorta falling into something over his head.

Black Flag is impressing me. I'm really liking every moment of it. It's worth the money in my opinion. 2's still my favorite purely for the lack of Full Sync BS, but this is a VERY close second.

Quote
My country lay within a vast desert. When the sun rose into the sky, a burning wind punished my lands, searing the world. And when the moon climbed into the dark of night, a frigid gale pierced our homes. No matter when it came the wind carried the same thing... Death. But the winds that blew across the green fields of Hyrule brought something other than suffering and ruin. I coveted that wind, I suppose. It can only be called fate... That here, I would again gather the three with the crests... That I should lay my hand on that which grants the wishes of the beholder... That when power, wisdom, and courage come together, the gods would have no choice but to come down... The power of the gods... The Triforce! He who touches it will have whatever he desires granted!

What's Full Sync?
In every Assassins Creed Game after Brotherhood, missions can be done in Full or Partial Synchronization. This means that each mission has an optional objective, most of which make the mission significantly more challenging than it needs to be. (Example, Assassin's Creed 3, Sequence 7, two ships. Goal, Blow Them up. Optional Missions, go undetected, and air assassinate one specific enemy. Difficulty without side objectives, 1, Difficulty with, 4 [my own rating system])
