They look so dumb and brainless, and I poked one's eye and it shrank.. and I wasn't sure if it cared or was even capable of caring o.o

Complex feelings, such as love, guilt, etc, no, but simple feelings, such as pain or hunger, most animals can feel. It's what drives things to live, essentially.

Some animals have basic emotions available to 'em. For example, ferrets will mourn, sometimes to the point of death, when a friend dies. The basic emotions statement in my previous post was directed at snails. Some animals are incredibly intelligent (like dolphins) and many have shown emotions. Lots of factors go into it I guess? I'd have to imagine that emotions work differently in other animals versus in humans.

Maybe every species of animals has a brain that functions in its own way with its own chemical balances, but generally work the same fundamentally

Exactly. I'm guessing that different animals react to different chemicals produced by their bodies in different ways.

Hmm, well for the animal bodies aside from their brains, I'm pretty sure it's a proven fact in a number of cases, but I've never heard anything about brains

Speaking of brains it's weird to think every single person has a brain in them

I'm sure the Lobotomites find that stereotype offensive.
