Rules and Regulations

This marks the first RP in the Warlords series that we will be using battle simulators as opposed to WiFi battling. I personally like Pokemon Showdown, but I'm open to suggestions.

Anyway, more general rules.
The obvious ones:
No godmodding
No omniscience
Stick to your character
No porn. My sister described this as a Game of Thrones meets Pokemon, but let's keep the tits on HBO.

That's basically it.

This is a much more mature roleplay than others. Violence and inappropriate language will be abound. For anyone who's read the trailers, you already know how violent it will get.

Obviously, I support the collaborations of writers, so feel free to do that.

When it comes to battling, we're operating on the honor system here. If you lose, take your loss graciously. If you want to do 2/3 go for it. But if you lose, you lose. I don't want to have to mediate between two writers saying the other lost.

As per teams, stick to your region. You wouldn't see a Charizard in Navihielo or a Steelix in Terraria. We don't want to know your team before hand, but if you have any doubts as to what may or may not be appropriate, PM Kloud or myself. If you feel like you have to justify a certain team member in any way, run it by Kloud or myself.

As for now, that's all I have to say here.

From the balcony of the palace, Chancellor Lawliet could hear the hustle and bustle of his people in the city below. Genesis, the principle city and capital of Lejenda, was operating in top condition. Businesses were prospering, people were happy, and money was flowing in. Lejenda was a nation composed of immigrants. Refugees and outcasts who long ago founded the Republic on a small island in the center of the Serennes envisioned a paradise for men of their kind. Eventually, Lejenda became a power that many feared and many more respected. Their main exports were the services of their people. Tortuga had fish, Blazi had iron, Agi Zeronia had steel and gems, and Lejenda had her people. Bounty Hunters, Treasure Seekers, Private Security, and Dragons. Of course the Dragons. They were plentiful on the island. From the mountains on the east end of the island, Dragonites and Salamences roared. Aerodactyl and Hydreigon flew freely in the sky. In the oceans, Kingdra and Dragalge swam. It was a magical place indeed.

Today however, was an important day for Lawliet and his nation. It was a day to solidify goodwill with the rest of the Serennes. Something that had evaded Lejenda since it’s birth. Lejenda was known, unfortunately, for it’s tendency to expand. Rather, it’s attempts too. Under Atticus Flynn, Lejenda was at the peak of its power, domineering over several other kingdoms around the globe. This was never popular with the other great powers. Terraria, Navihielo, and the Faore Republic were Flynn’s greatest enemies, halting him in his tracks at every turn. In a desperate show of power, Flynn decided to invade Navihielo. He failed.

That was over 100 years ago. Today, however, was a celebration in Navihielo. The beloved Queen Glacea was having a banquet thrown in her honor to commemorate 170 years on the throne. She was the third monarch of Navihielo and the Ice Kingdom’s only queen. She was popular with her people and with dignitaries and kingdoms around the Serennes. She was wise, gentle, and kind and a force of good. By her blade the Mad Emperor Atticus Flynn was slain.

Miles had never met Glacea, but he knew she had contempt for him and his country. He couldn’t blame her. History had given her every reason for it. The people of Lejenda had no love for the Queen either. They blamed her for the Dark Years that followed the assassination of Chancellor Yates. He was a feeble man, yes, but he was still their Chancellor. When they found Yates in his study, a hole between the eyes with frost surrounding the wound, the people of Lejenda immediately turned to blame Glacea’s people. It wasn’t true of course. It was found to be an anarchist in the mountains with his Glalie. Nevertheless, the people still had no love for Navihielo. It was an unpopular decision with the people that their leader was attending the banquet in hostile land, but Miles felt it was his duty to at least make the attempt to create goodwill between them.

He finished the letter he was writing and signed with a flourish. It was a letter offering the congratulations from the people of Lejenda. He pocketed it in his jacket and fastened his tie as he rose from his desk. The wind from the balcony behind him gave him a chill. He turned and saw nothing. As he turned his back again, a faint glimmer caught his eye. Again, he turned around and saw snow begin to fall. He shuddered. He hated snow. He would have to deal with it in Navihielo, yes, but he was prepared for that. He didn’t like snow at home. He briskly left his study, grabbing his long coat on the way out.

“Is Dragonite ready for the flight?” He asked his attendant.

“Yes milord. Dragonite is in the tower. The Wyvern Guard is also prepared to journey with you,” the man answered.

“Excellent. Thank you very much Malcolm,” he smiled. His smile was infectious. It made others happy. It made other people want to make him happy. It was a dangerous smile. As Malcolm giddily ran off, Miles walked up the curved stairs up to one of the towers of the palace where Dragonite was resting. He was pleased to see his master and unfurled his wings.

“Let’s go old friend. We have much work to do today.” Miles boarded Dragonite and he leapt into the air below, the wind catching him and raising him up. Below, the Wyvern Guard took off as well. A squad of twelve Salamence riders rising up to meet Miles and his Dragonite. The turned to face the north and their journey began.

In the furthest recesses of his mind, Miles could almost hear a voice. “Yes my child. Soon we will take what is ours.” He shrugged it off, focusing instead on the flight before him. It would take four hours to reach Navihielo from dragonback…

The winds of the North howled, throwing the snow of Navihielo around the icy plains. However, this didn't faze the citizens of the fine land- it was a fairly common occurrence, particularly around this time of the year, and as such expected it. Besides that, good cheer kept them warm. The entire kingdom was buzzing with activity. Today had been declared a national holiday, celebrating the Queen Glacea's long and just reign over the land. Beloved by her people, and many from other countries, it was a cause for jubilation. Many of the other countries assumed that the good Queen had merely been a title and name passed down through generations of eerily similar appearing women, but a select few knew that the beloved Queen was far from human. Even more suspected it. Those who knew believed in the tales of Navihielo's creation. She had lived the longest of any Navihielan royal, and that fact burned her.

Glacea hadn't wanted this celebration. She was too modest for these things, her people had assumed, and her trusted officials had arranged it anyways, inviting foreign dignitaries and leaders as well as the entirety of the kingdom to attend. Glacea hadn't been seen by her people, aside from her advisers, in weeks. Many feared her ill, as it was her norm to be out and about, with her people. Her constant presence was missed, and due to that, the people were all the more excited to see her at the ceremony.

The woman of the hour had remained in her private chambers of the castle for many days now. Her eyes looked tired, showing her many sleepless nights. She leaned over a marble counter, hand clutched to her chest. She shook and coughed, grimacing. Blood dribbled from her mouth.

"Why today...? I don't know if it is wise for me to attend this... celebration, Glaceon..." Glacea choked a bit as she spoke. Her trusty shiny Glaceon, her companion since her youth, tilted his head.

"Milady, you've not been to see your people in weeks, that much is true. But I do wonder if it wouldn't be wise to travel and see if we couldn't find a doctor trained in the old medicine to help you." He looked down, obviously stressed. "I think we should go on this journey after the ceremony. Your people need to see you, and the other nations need to see you as well. You're a symbol, a sign of the power of Navihielo, and if you were to not show up, I fear that would make Navihielo appear weak and incite attack."

"You're right." Glacea shook it off, and wiped the blood from her face. She left the bloodied rag on the counter top and made her way to the main hall of the castle. "We should prepare for our guests, dear Glaceon."

In the dry land of Agi Zeronia, today seemed to be a day of business as usual. Glass work, mining, and of course, caravaning. Agi Zeronia's caravans were famous among all nations for their willingness to travel through all types of terrain. Through them, many nations got the resources they desperately needed in exchange for what they had in abundance. This idea had sprung from Agi Zeronia's basis of living. Take what you need, give what you don't.

But today wasn't an average day. For the past month, every three days, Sultan Kien Fien Victeem would leave the palace and the city of Kikar, travel into the dessert, and return the next day. And this was the day of his return. His Visor took control of business when he was gone, but Kien returned, he was covered in dirt. Today, Haku, Kien's companion Mawile decided to address this irregular behavior.

"Sir, I mean no offence, but might I ask why you're consistently risking your life. If it's those legends you spoke of, they are mere legends. Even if it is true, I see no point in seeking it out."

"Haku, allow me to share a bit of wisdom to you. Those who lack power fall victim to those who do and who use it. Those with power who use it gain enemies who have power who crush them. A wise leader amasses power, and doesn't use it. I seek out this legend, not for myself, but for my people. To protect them."

"But there's no evidence that the ruins you're seeking out even exist..." Haku always was concerned with Kien's health ever since they met all those years ago during his life as a thief.

"There's no evidence that they don't either. Let the Visor know of my return. I'm going to take a bath."

The clouds that populated the sky seemed venomous, the way their edges were tinged a purple that bled into the center, like a watercolour painting gone wrong. It was only fitting, Nox thought, that the poisonous clouds should overshadow the poisonous city-- if one could even call it a city anymore. A small blade danced through Nox's fingers, the nimble movements of her slim fingers catching and sending the hilt off to the next one based purely on instinct. She had been through the routine enough times that scars littered the insides of her digits, and she almost subconsciously fell into the movements whenever her mind drifted. It was the sky that captured her attention this time, in all its noxious glory and she almost smiled then, because the sun was setting and the best things in Venoth happened after darkness settled.

It was with a lazy stretching of her long limbs that Nox stood, slowly and deliberately, like the creature that lurked under dark lit beds and slunk out at night to enjoy a satisfying feast on the flesh of unsuspecting. The twitching shadows that the derelict building cast seemed to be the ones at fault of portraying such an image, but Nox couldn't say she minded it much at all. If she was to lead the others by fear, so be it; there had been no problems thus far.

She was nearly out of the dank alleyway she had been stationed in before a soft voice caught her attention. A grin lit her face. She whirled to meet the dark figure of her companion pokemon, his obsidian black body nearly melding into the obscurity of the shadows. In the end, it was the blood red tongue wrapped around his neck that always gave him away.

"And the forecast for tonight is?" Nox questioned with a roguish smirk, her eyes drifting down to meet the Greninja that stood a near foot shorter than her.

"There's an incoming caravan, arriving sometime within the hour. Small, but lavish." Somnus' voice was quiet but steady, the kind that commanded the attention of any people around no matter the circumstance. Nox had learned the power of voice inflection from him, just as she had taught him much also.

"Excellent," said Nox, biting down on her upper lip for a moment in thought. When the moment had passed, she spoke with clear certainty. "Gather three willing participants from the west end, and I'll take two from the east. We depart in no more than thirty minutes."

Somnus nodded his understanding and skulked back into the dimness of the alley. Nox sheathed her dagger quickly, the harsh sting of the metal against metal making an echoing hissing noise in the emptiness of the back street. In less than an hour, the leftover scavengers of Venoth would be feasting like kings, herself included. Whoever said crime doesn't pay?

When Kien returned from his bath, he was met with bad news.

"Sire, we just receive word that the caravan to the Venoth area was ambushed. The caravaners that survived are in recovery."

Kien sighed. "That's the fourth one this month. Divert caravan routes from that area for now. I will handle it personally this evening, but for now, I have a rare opertunity to attend a Navihielian event and meet it's queen. I'll be back within a few hours. Saan!" When Kien called the name 'Saan' a Flygon entered the room through a window, which Kien hoped aboard. On the back of a Flygon, dispite the weather in Navihielo, Kien would be there in only half an hour.

When Kien arrived at the Navihielo castle, made arrangements for Saan to be kept out of the cold before entereing the building. He was impressed by the architecture, with an exterior literally made from ice, and the main building carved from fine marble. Kien made his way among the people, but in his green Sultan's robes, he clearly stuck out from among the natives. He made small talk with some of the people.

"Glacia herself will be here I assume." Kien was only vaguely informed of the event. A national holiday honoring the Queen. Record books showed the same name ruling the country for over a hundred years. Kien assumed it was a family name and that the event was in honor of the origonal Queen Glacia.

Glacea had barely settled in the main hall by the time the Flygon swooped in. She knew exactly how long it would take someone to arrive from the air base being used to house the guest's travel Pokemon to her front door. Her right hand assistant, Councillor Chael, was manning the door. "Announcing the arrival of the great Sultan Kien Fien of Agi Zeronia." His voice echoed through the hall, and the castlehands putting the finishing touches on looked up a moment, marveling at the foreign clothing before averting their eyes and bowing in respect. Colored clothing was rare in Navihielo- most clothing the locals wore was either white cloth or brown and tanned leather. Glacea, too, looked up. She was less impressed by his clothing than her subjects, as she'd been around the Serennes many times in her life, but as she'd not left her homeland in many moons, she did have a respect for the bright pigment.

The Queen stood and bowed her head. She looked far younger than the 203 years she had walked the earth, perhaps around the age of 26 or 28. She smiled gently. "Welcome, Sultan Kien Fien. Please, make yourself at home." She stood from the throne at the head of the hall- she rarely used it, regardless, and as such she hadn't planned on staying put long. Glaceon gave her a look of warning. "Rest, milady. Do not overexert yourself." He whispered. Glacea nodded as she walked to the center of the room, which had a large table with many seats. She accepted a drink from a server who was carrying a plate and took a sip- it was a classic of Navihielo- strong, sweet and cold.

Along the volcanic belt, on a massive island created by a single volcano, thrived the kingdom of Blazi. Blazi accommodated for most of the other nations' iron through its exports of the metal. Steam billowed out of one of the many saunas and hot springs that one of the past Kings of Blazi capitalized on for tourist profits and as such Blazi became a very wealthy nation. That particular room was specific to the current King, Shugo Strauss. A rattling could be heard as one of his servants appeared at the door.

"My liege?" Are you in?" the servant called into the room.

"Hm? I am. Come on in." Shugo called back, his voice, as the people put it, was unexpectedly deep for his appearance, though that deepness and loudness demanded respect from his country. The servant opened the door as Shugo walked out of the hot water, despite seeing him like that quite often she couldn't help but blush, "Do I please you?" Shugo chuckled as he struck a pose, grabbing a towel from a rack on the wall.

The servant became flustered and stumbled to tell her king the news, "N-navih- The Navihielan Queen h-has invited you to a ceremony!" she nervously held out the invitation.

"Is that so?" Shugo blinked, "Navihielo? I haven't heard anything from them in years. Sure, I'll go, just let me tend to a few things first. Prepare my skiff."

"Yes, my lord." the servant bowed and turned.

"Oh, and quit with the 'my lord' business." Shugo told the girl. She looked confusedly at Shugo, "Then what?"

"Just go with what everyone else calls me; Aniki."

++

"KWAH-!" My liege, you cannot go to a royal ceremony in Navihielo in a commoner's garb!" one of Shugo's advisers blew a gasket when he saw his king adorned in a thin cloth and scarf, "Where are your clothes we prepared for you!?"

"I think I left them on the skiff." Shugo lied, darting his eyes away. The old man sighed.

"At least put on the outfit we had tailored for you while you are here if you mind the Navihielan-sensitive clothing so much."

"I'll do that... When I get on the skiff." Shugo told his adviser walking out of the castle and out to the harbor. Calls of "Aniki" and other praises rang throughout the streets as Shugo walked. Several children would run to him and hug his legs lovingly. "Okay okay, I've got to go, but I'll be back if the party's too boring." He laughed.

++

Adorned in his usual red studded coat, he approached the frozen lands of Navihielo, "Queen Glacea, I've heard a bit about you. Let's hope you're as good as the stories tell." Shugo said to himself, he was the only one to get off of his skiff, as he ordered.

"Ah, lady Glacia. It is my pleasure." Kien bowed, kissing the top of the queen's hand. "I must say, I had heard rumors, but I didn't believe that your eyes truly shimmered like light through a jewel. It's a pleasant surprise."

Kien's flirting was part of his silver tongue. Ever since he became a thief, he learned the ways of the wordsmith. That isn't to say what he was saying wasn't genuine, but he knew how to flatter.

"Before anything, I'd like to present you a gift. I had it fashioned yesterday." Kien produced a glass pendant. The glass was shaped into the shape of the Agi Zeronian royal crest, which depicted a small blue drop of water in the middle of a large sun shape.

"Consider it a gift not from me, but from my nation. So long as you own that pendant, you're a welcome guest in my palace, and will be treated like royalty. I must say, your homeland is a sight to see. Not unlike Agi Zeronia in the sense that there is a wide expanse of wasteland, but here in the capitol, a spark of life thrives. We're only separated by a handful of degrees."

Four hours on the back of a dragon is no easy task. Less so in the ornate robes of a Chancellor. So when Miles finally touched down on the snow covered landing zone of the Navihielan palace, he breathed a heavy sigh of relief. It was cold, obviously. Freezing actually. And of course, it was snowing. Miles hated snow. But there was something about the snow that fell from the heavens over Navihielo that was different than the snow that fell over any other part of the world. It seemed to twinkle differently and dance in the breeze as it slowly drifted down to the earth. Almost like it was alive with its own conscience. He shivered and haunched up his cloak and fastened his scarf. He was dressed in black and red, the national colors of Lejenda. He fixed his sword, decorative of course, and adjusted his cuffs. The Wyvern Riders landed beside him but Miles told them to wait. He didn't want a legion of armed guards inside. The last thing he wanted to do here was incite violence. As far as Miles was concerned, this was a peace mission. An act of diplomacy on the part of one nation that hated another. He'd like to see peace, yes, but he'd also like to see Navihielo fly the Lejendan flag. But it would never happen, so peace it would have to be.

Walking briskly at a steady pace, Miles entered the palace. The grand ballroom was a sight to see indeed. Fashioned almost entirely of ice, it was held up by magnificent columns of ice, carved intricately, each depicting a different scene of the nation's grand and beautiful history and mythology. One depicted the birth of Articuno, emerging from a blizzard, forged of living ice. Another depicted Articuno giving life to the people of Navihielo. Still another depicted King Fross slaying Chancellor Prince. Miles winced at that one. He hoped that he wouldn't be a distant memory on an ice column any time soon. Looking up, the ceiling was also carved immaculately. The humans and pokemon that worked to make it must have toiled for decades. Or a year. The Navihielans were notoriously good sculptors.

He grabbed a drink from a passing server. It was clear and shimmering, like liquid ice. He took a sip and it was icy as it touched his tongue. But it was potent and had delicious notes of Winterberry, a fruit native to the arctic. He would have to remember to ask for the recipe to take back. Looking around, he noticed several other dignitaries. The young Sultan Kien Fien, of whom he had heard rumors of being a master thief, the President of Blazi, Shugo Strauss, regarded as the most popular head of state in the Serennes, the Prime Minister of the Republic of the Featherlands, whom he was surprised to see, given that the nation was so small and relatively unimportant, and of course, at the back of the room, Glacea herself. She looked like she was no older than 30. 28 perhaps? There was no way she could have been the Queen of this country for 170 years. Yet somewhere deep down in his mind, he knew this was true. That was the same Glacea who took the throne after the death of Fross the Second. The same Glacea born 203 years ago. The same Glacea who slew Mad Atticus in battle. And she looked just as perfect as ever.

The Prime Minister of Featherland, an old acquaintance of Miles in fact, noticed him and came over to offer his greetings. "Miles! Good to see you. Never thought I'd find myself here. Can you imagine? That child having ruled for 170 years? Preposterous. I would so wish this House wouldn't take the rest of the world as fools."

"It's good to see you Roland. I agree. She couldn't be that old. It's impossible. But all the same, it would be rude not to introduce myself. Hold this." He gave his glass to the Prime Minister and walked over to the Queen.

"Queen Glacea, it's an honor to finally meet you. My name is Miles. Miles Lawliet. Chancellor of Lejenda. I hope that name means no bad blood would come between us so soon," he said, flashing that hypnotic smile.

Each new face entered into the castle was announced, but Glacea paid it little mind. She was perplexed by the attentions of Kien- was this flirting? She'd never experienced love in the sense of personal love, instead loving her people and the Pokemon of her nation. Butterflies rose in her stomach and her cheeks flushed. She accepted the charm, impressed. "What kind of ice is this...? I've never seen such a thing."

She turned her attentions to Miles, and her stomach rose into her throat. She felt as though he would be incredibly charming to any other person, but instead, the hairs on the back of her neck stood on end and the blush left her face as quickly as it had come. Her stomach flipped. I know this man. Well yes, he's a foreign leader, but... I feel as though I've seen his face before.... She wiped the slight expression from her face. "Chancellor Miles, it's a pleasure." She smiled right back at himGlacea was in no mood to make any promises to Lejenda or their well dressed diplomats. She wasn't the type to hate. She bit her lip, reluctant to say much more. "I'm glad that you were able to make it. I know that it is quite a long journey. Please, feel free to make yourself at home." Glaceon twisted around her leg, reminding her of his presence.
