It's been on the internet for a while but I just found a picture version of it so I thought I'll show anyone who hasn't seen it yet

First person to explain it properly gets a reward in the form of being twerked on repeatedly by Miley Cyrus, naked.

I'm not sure I want that reward...

The trick is that it's not a proper triangle. The hypotenuse is slightly bent, rather than a constant slope. The area of the four figures is 32 units, but the area of a 13x5 triangle is 32.5 So with a bend hypotenuse, the area of the first figure is 32, but the area of the second is 33, including the missing square. Granted the bending is minuscule, but enough to make a difference. If you overlay the two figures, the hypotenuses will form a very thin parallelogram with an area of 1 unit.

If it was pre-short hair, I might consider it.

It's nice to have him around to do mathy things. God knows I can't.

Which brings to question why I do all the money dealings in our household. xD

I donate this prize to the Help my Richie Foundation.

Now, did you already know the answer, or did you want to know it is the question?

I knew the answer because someone told me the answer a long time ago

Was just curious if anyone here already knew it as well

Admittedly I could not have worked it out by myself; the difference in hypotenuse is really not obvious x.e

You don't even need the difference in hypotenuse to figure it out. Just do the area formulas for what you have and what you should have.

Well ofc I probably could have worked it out if I was going to go all LETS MATH THIS SHT and do the equations and what not

but I'm not like that. I look at the puzzle and be like "wot" and then move on to the next thing that captures my interest on my monitor
