Does it really matter though? Yes I agree that they are very easy to obtain, particularly in gen6, but you're going to end up getting to them anyway so you might as well catch it at the climax of the story. In fact, it's probably cheaper to do that for me since I only have to buy say 10 ultra balls rather than 50 for the same result. No matter how difficult they make it to fight, it isn't a challenge to catch any legendary pokemon because it boils down to putting it to sleep/paralysing it and then throwing a shit ton of ultra balls at it until it catches. It's never challenging, just a huge pain imo.

If it seemed challenging in gen1, that's probably because we were all younger so the game was more difficult for us. Now that we've grown up a bit and understand the game's mechanics fully it just doesn't seem as difficult as before which is understandable.
