sell your firstborn for untold riches and fame?
Not after what we went through. We've suffered too much. We're raising this kid til he's in college at least.

He's going to learn from my mistakes. I didn't prepare to go to college as soon as I could and now I'm paying for it. Plus, I intend to fix my mistake before he's anywhere near highschool. Watching his father go to college should be inspiration enough.

What I'm saying is, he's going to college.

I will help him accomplish anything he want, but he's going to college either way because having a college degree makes a huge difference. Even if you're going into a field that doesn't require one, having one can give you a leg up from the get-go.

It's non optional. He's going to college.

We can do what Shelby did and start him in college at 16.

Why do you hate higher education, Starrk?

I'm currently in my last year of high school, so we're applying for university like right now. We're only allowed to pick 5 options so I hope I at least get 3 offers, but places are VERY competitive.

Because it isn't for everyone and the idea that college degrees make everything easier is a giant lie. A skilled trade is also viable and very lucrative as a lot of trades have people retiring but no one to replace them.

Plus having a degree does make you damn near unhirable to some companies cuz they know you'll jump ship as soon as you can and they dont want that in an employee.

Aren't most trade schools technically colleges?

And wouldn't most places that won't hire you because you have a degree are entry level dead end jobs. Anyone would jump ship as soon as they can.

Then again, give me three legitimate examples with sources of places that will deny college grads a job. Because I don't think those exist.

its a common complaint amongst those who went to college and cant get a job afterwards.

a lot of trades you learn on the job or just take a test and get certified. yes there are schools for those who learn better in school.

Because otherwise all the unis would be swamped with applicants and the whole process would take ages. I wish the limit was a little higher, maybe 7, but even a small increase like that would have large logistical implications.
