Just randomly thought of this community so I checked if it's still up.

I left discord but I might check it out again to see what everyone's up to.

Also life update 3 years after the last one. 23 now, just finished school and I'll start full-time work in June in the semiconductor industry. I started playing Pokemon again since last year and I'm currently anticipating the DPPt remakes (hopefully).

Knock knock, anybody in here? I'm just gonna steal everybody else's idea and post an update about myself, if you don't mind. :^)

I'm currently in 2nd year Computer Science, still going strong. First semester was quite shit because of all the theoretical CS courses I had to take (theory is cool but I'm bad at them), but I'm bouncing back this semester with the more practical courses I'm taking. Had an interview as a teaching assistant at a coding summer camp, hopefully I get the job. If I do well in my courses this semester, I'm gonna go for a teaching assistant position in my university as well in my third year.

Pokemon (at least the main series) hasn't been a part of my life in years, and I don't see myself going back to it anytime in the near future. If I do go back right now, I would have to catch up on three generations, which wouldn't really be worth my time. I played Pokemon Go for a bit this past summer but I quickly lost interest because of the lack of gameplay other than catching and spinning Pokestops. Nowadays, my free time consists of playing around with my Arduino and Raspberry Pi, working on projects with my friends, and getting a good chuckle out of reddit posts.

Hope everyone's doing well. I'm quite surprised that this community has managed to stay on life support for this long. I guess some of us do still value this community.

Pokemon clip somehow came up in my YouTube feed, made me think of PPN, then back to here.  Took a while to remember the site Smiley Hi.
What's up. It's great to see old members drop by every once in a while. I've been lurking a bit just to see what's up but I never bothered to post anything.

It's been a long time since I was last active, so I thought I'd give you an update on what's going on with my life right now. Currently, I am a student at a Canadian university for Computer Science with a specialization in Information Security. I am going into my second year of studies this coming September. First year was challenging since it was a huge jump from high school, but I got through with a decent GPA. I'm really looking forward to second year since that's when I start taking more specialized courses instead of the general intro courses I took in the first year.

As for the summer, I'm currently working maintenance at a factory. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a job that's related to my field, but that's to be expected of someone who only has first year knowledge. At the factory, I mainly deal with cleaning and fixing the huge CNC machines we use for production. It can get depressing sometimes since I have to deal with oil, grease, coolant, and gunk everyday, but I'm only working there until the end of the summer so I just try to tough it out. The pay isn't too bad and it's definitely much higher than my pay at a different factory last summer. I'm going to use the money I earn to help pay for tuition and allowance during the school year.

My social life has been going well. Quite a few of my high school friends go to the same university as me and I also made a lot of new friends in my program during orientation week. Relationship is not so good though. I kinda just got rejected by this girl I've been talking to for three months, but it was partly for a good reason. We're still good friends and we still talk as if nothing happened at all, although not as much since she's on a vacation in a different country right now. What's confusing is that she still wants to go out with me when she comes back, so I guess I'll just roll with it and see what happens next.

Finally, I'm considering getting a 3DS eventually after the Sun/Moon announcement. It's been four years since the last time I played Pokemon, so I'm out of touch. The same girl found out that I used to play Pokemon, so she convinced me to get the game so we could play together. I'm also going to get Pokemon Go for my phone when it comes out later this month and I hope that the game turns out to be amazing.

This has been quite long, but I thought I'd share my life with you guys. The last time I was active in this community, I was just a stupid 14-year old high schooler who did nothing but play video games all day. Now that I have actual responsibilities, it's quite difficult to find time to do the things I enjoy. Every once in a while, I'd find time to spend on myself and I'd look back to the times when I could just do whatever I wanted. Ludicom is one of the things I'd look back to and it's nice to lurk and see how everyone's doing since the PPN days. I hope you guys appreciate this and I would love to hear from you guys as well!

6  General / Social / Re: It's just dawning on me how important this community was to my growth as a teen on: December 17, 2015, 01:31:36 am
It's been a while but I keep coming back to this community.

Anyway, the past year has been interesting. I graduated high school, got my first job at a factory during the summer, and entered university for Computer Science in the fall.

University has been one hell of a ride so far. Lots of ups and downs. Frosh week was the most fun part of it but everything went downhill after. Basically, I couldn't adapt to the fast-paced nature of university so I slacked off hard. I eventually fell behind so I isolated myself from my friends to get stuff done. Worst idea ever. It ended up being detrimental to my education and my well-being. I got so depressed that I stopped giving a shit about assignments and I started skipping classes. By the end of the term, what did I get out of all of these? Passing marks in three of my classes, nearly failing one, and completely failing another one with a 26%. My last hope to salvage my shitty first semester is finals season. So far, I've written three exams: two for classes in which I'm passing and one for the class in which I'm getting a 26%. No way I was able to salvage that class with how little I prepared for the exam. I have another one soon and it's for the one I'm nearly failing. I don't really know how to study for it and I honestly stopped giving a shit about that class a while ago. It's bad that I haven't showed up in that class since October because it's a class I need for my major. Oh well.

Basically, now that I reflect on my first semester in university, I went from an 80-90s student in high school to someone who is about to fail possibly two courses. I'm quite disappointed in myself.

Who else watched the Korra series finale?

No more new Avatar ever again ;_;
Great finale. I still can't believe it's all over, though. On the bright side, Korrasami is real!

Anyone else watching Korra?
Right here. Saw the preview for Episode 10. So hyped for it.

This is gonna get a bit sad

But I don't really know why I log in anymore.

I guess it's mainly because of Starrk because we have a few common interests, like Cars and GTA and stuff.

I have outside contact with people like Aryeh, DAF etc.

I don't log in because it's not facebook, i probably use facebook more than any other social medium to talk to my irl freinds, and otherwise I'm quite active on it.

But in general, I think the site died because early on we didn't have many "new" members due to delayed jump on the Gen 5 bandwagon.  And no Admin.

So we just stuck with current members

Members who grew out of pokemon and began to like other video games, like Loom, Daniel or Rushad.

Or started to have other interests like Parrot or Waldo.

Also members who where unsatisfied with how much Pokemon-playing members where active in the later years, like Orgo, JCB and many other competitive players.

Our current members got older, their tastes changed, and they preffered other things, like real life, over this website.
Hell I take long breaks from posting because I'm looking for a new car or playing games with loom or real life friends.

Life got in the way for most of us, back when we where in school it was much easier.

I tried reviving this site like 50 times, and tried very hard everytime, I guess I wasn't really apperciated or acknowledged for trying where others failed, i'm going to name drop, but people like JCB and TimF where practically ghosts.

and people like Rosim would bring in this realist attitude to it, and that would lower morale, effective killing my "revolution" to bring life back into the site.

Around when I became admin I was very happy because I could make a change, and I tried, again and agian, and it never worked.

I feel like I was one of the few who actually cared about this community, but now I have lost all that spark. The sites done.

You guys may as well find an IM service because I talk to others on skype and its much more active there than here. And don't go on about how that kills activity, because thats private stuff me and the others wouldn't mention here anyways.

Ontop of all this, Forums are a relic of the past, I feel like their time has come and gone, being replaced with Facebook, blogs and other types of media.

It may not be much, but props to you guys for not pulling the plug yet on this community. I do try to log in and check on stuff every day, although I don't post much since I can't really relate to the discussions that are going on here anymore. Like you mentioned, my interests have changed since I joined the community five years ago. Pokemon doesn't really appeal to me anymore; the last time I truly enjoyed the series was HeartGold. I thought I was going to enjoy Black as much as I did with HG, but my enthusiasm with Pokemon started dying down as I played the game.

Don't take this personally, but if you eventually decide to pull the plug on the site, I have no intentions in keeping in touch with you guys any further on social media or other means (It's not like I already do, haha). I know that in the past, I had your MSN accounts to keep in touch with, but that was back when we were all much closer to each other. Due to my inactivity for more than a year and my changing interests, I feel that I've distanced myself way too far from this community. Back then, Pokemon was something we all had in common, but not anymore. I'm quite ready to move on; it's just that one last thing, the death of this community, would make me fully move on.
12  General / Social / Re: How old are you? Please post :D on: November 27, 2014, 10:25:24 pm
17. Probably one of the younger, if not the youngest member of the community. I'll be 18 just a few days after 2015 hits.
13  General / Social / Re: My ultimate confession on: November 27, 2014, 09:55:30 pm
I'm glad that you saw the PPN community as an escape from your reality. It's always nice to have somewhere to go to when real life is getting a little harsh. But, most of all, I'm glad that you're able to accept the real you. This sounds cliche, but at the end of the day, no matter how much you run away from reality, it will always catch up to you.

During the MSN days, I had much fun talking to you and everyone else, although you claim that the "you" during those days was just a mask you put on. The way I look at you will never change, even after reading this confession of yours. In fact, I applaud you for making a positive change in your life instead of forever hiding behind a fake identity that you created in order to escape from the real you.

After all, this is the Internet. Why should the identity of someone I know only by a username bother me? What matters to me is that you had great memories with a community that is like a family to you and that you were inspired by this community to accept your reality.

What's your nationality? Do you understand Korean or Japanese? o:
My background is Filipino. I don't understand Japanese at all, but I know how to read written Korean. I also know basic Korean grammar structure and few hundred words. As for spoken Korean, I barely understand it unless it's a song with a decent pace.
15  General / Social / Re: Thread Of Topiclessness [Current Era: TOM R. TOE] on: November 16, 2014, 11:02:26 am
why not jpop? they got weirder stuff coming out all day errday.
Personal preference. Also, I just like Korean idols' visuals more than Japanese idols. Korean companies put a lot of emphasis on the physical appearance of their idols. That's why plastic surgery is popular in the Korean entertainment industry. Although I can't say that all the surgeries turn out well. Some of them do, while others... not so much.

Somewhat related, but some k-pop groups also do Japanese songs. Groups usually enter Japanese market after they've established a strong following in Korea, which is about 2-4 years after their debut. As for whether you consider this j-pop or not, it's really up to you. J-pop has a distinct sound which is difficult for me to explain, but I just know it when I hear it. For me, some of these songs can be considered as j-pop, while others are pretty much k-pop in the Japanese language.
