When I was in school for diesel tech a few of us received cards for 50% off our first order at Sears. I applied for a Sears credit card and bought the largest Craftsmen set they had (ratchets, sockets, wrenches/ratcheting wrenches, various other tools, literally the works) with no interest rates, perhaps wherever you go may have the same sort of deal. Their lowest accepted payment is like $25 a month. Specialty tools you just buy as you need, and borrow from coworkers if you're desperate. Go on craigslist and buy a decent cabinet, and go to Harbor Freight for the rest. I know everyone really bags on their tools, but if you take care of them they'll last.. and even if they don't, most of their stuff has a lifetime warranty. I bought a DA, die grinder, air hammer and a few other air tools from them a few years ago and they all still work like new. I'd also highly suggest buying things like impact sockets and 1"+ wrenches from them. Their prices are impossible to beat, especially when you're just starting out.
And it really goes without saying, but stay away from the Snap-On and Mac tool trucks your first couple of years on the job. You might feel like a badass with the top-tier tools, but what you're paying for them really isn't worth it yet.
I thought harbor freight was like absolute trash? : (

I'd like to make a formal apology for my inability to take a joke in the past. I was young, fire in my blood, and a head way too big for my shoulders. I still feel guilt for a lot of tension I caused, thank you to anyone who considered me your friend, and anyone I bitched out, it was probably uncalled for, and I'm sorry.
Kloud and I are still together, still married, we have our one year old boy and a second one due any day now. We'll also have a brand new, built from the ground up house in a few months.
did the big bad wolf blow your old house down?

Holy fucking shit.
I spent 5 years on this site. 5 years.
And yet this site and community feels like ancient history.
I'm more mentally healthy these days compared to PPN days and I just can't imagine myself pretending to be a girl for a whole day let alone years.
This year I start my final year in Biomedical Science, wish me luck! So far I've completed 16 classes in my degree, 14 of them having High Distinctions, and I'm proud of it.
Considering all I did during high school was smoke weed, I'm quite happy with how I'm doing.
I love reading everyones replies about what they're doing in life, everyone getting further education. Everyones lives have changed so much since we met on PPN, its amazing.
I just wish I lived in America too so I could meet the majority of friends I met here.
I've never been part of a community thats contributed to my development so much. And I never even met any of you face to face. The internet is amazing.
once you become Dr. Breaking stereotypes you'll be able to afford to come to freedom land and learn what it means to be free!

Hello everyone,
I hope you're all doing fine. Just dropping a little update on my latest pride.
I just turned green. Traded in my Avenger for a new 2016 Kia Soul EV. That's a completely electric car. It's pretty expensive but it fits my needs better than the Avenger.
Thanks and keep keeping on people!
pics pl0x And how will you road trip in a green car? ;-;

That's awesome man! Good to know you're getting along well in school. Your job sounds like a lot of fun. I ran a CNC mill on graveyard shifts during my first year of school, though I didn't fiddle with any programming. Very monotonous job for me, but as you said the pay is pretty decent.
Relationships are tough, but luckily we're still young enough to not have to worry about them too much. I really don't follow Pokemon anymore, didn't even know of the new games coming out. I bought a 3DS back when X and Y came out, and I really did not care for he gameplay in those titles at all, so I don't think I'll be continuing to play the series.
I guess I'll throw a little life update out there as well...
So I went to school for two semesters, didn't care for my major so I then switched to Diesel Technology for 2014-2015 semesters. Absolutely loaded course, first semester I was there M-F from 8a.m. to 5p.m. with a 1 hour commute each way, then second semester was the roughly the same schedule, minus the Friday class and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were 8a.m. to 10p.m. Unfortunately I lost my father about a month before I finished the program last year, but I stuck it out and finished. Haven't done anything with the credentials as now I'm home running the family business, which is fine with me really as I never planned to leave for very long - maybe a handful of years or so, just to kind of reinforce what I learned in school. I'm with the same woman that I've been with for quite some time now, and our first son was just born towards the end of last year. Young parenthood, to me, is a lot better than what everyone says. He really brightens my day.
So here we are now, our own little home, our family and the new edition puppy we just picked up the other day. Things are going fairly well for me. I've been blessed and don't have any money issues. I do a lot of odd jobs after work that we have no reason to worry, and when my lady finishes up school it'll be even better.
I really am pretty jealous of your job. I really want to get into machining, since I only touched on it with that one job and a little bit in school, so I've been busting my hump this last month or so trying to save up some cash for a decent vertical milling machine. I've got enough spare cash now to pick up a nice older unit and some tooling, now it's just shopping around until I find the right deal. Sorry for the long winded comment.
so what is the family business? And hows being a parent?
