Tell me what parts to buy. Seriously. Give me a shopping list and I'll do it, but I don't have the time r the knowledge to research parts.

pc part picker has a guide section now where people show off different builds, logicalincrements has lists, and you can ask /r/buildapc for help as well.

EDIT: Do you have a budget in mind and what connector does your screen have (HDMI, DVI, DSUB/VGA)

It'd be a long term build. I don't know what's reasonable for a computer though. Let's say middle grade gaming computer. I don't need top of the line, but it needs to be able to run games like the Witcher, Oblivion, and Assassin's Creed (I own both of those, which is why I mention them. They're my standard right now) Whichever of those is the most intense, base the build on that.

EDIT: And Tribes: Accent. Don't need it to run crysis though before you make that joke.

This one can run crysis, and the witcher and it's sequels.

These two can do the witcher.

None of those games are too demanding, I'd imagine price range would be $400-$600

First one is nearly $4000 and can run the most demanding games out right now at max settings, like GTA V.

For all of those games you don't need more than 6GB Ram and 2GB VRAM

http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Mini-Displayport-PCI-Express-Graphic-GV-R787OC-2GD/dp/B007PJVB3Y

I believe this is my graphics card ATM. I can run Skyrim at max settings with mods, and Oblivion is a joke. Oblivion can be run at max settings on any modern video card, It's a 9 year old game. Witcher max settings, and Assassin's Creed 4 at medium. I have 12GB Ram, and my processor is an i7. I have way too much ram though.

Finished my first PC build!

The mobo I chose only had one plug in for fan so I couldn't use both fans that my case came with sadly.

However, one of the fans was borked and made a bad sound while spinning, the other is fine so it buffed out.

The stock cooler came with thermal paste already on it which I found out when I had thermal paste all over my hand at one point...

My cable management skillz are bad and I feel bad.

Found the sata cables that came with the mobo, after I made my aunt go get a couple. lololol

I couldn't figure out how to remove sections of the face plate so I could  put the disc drive into it for dvds and such, just broke one out and then I saw where the clips holding them in were. Don't matter cuz I won't use it ever again.

Now I'm just updating windows which takes forever cuz MS can't into updates well. :c

in it about 5 and a half hours so far. Build was about 3 and half though.

Okay, yeah, that 600 dollar budget is doable, albeit over time. So what parts?

do NOT do it over time, all at once or don't. if a part doesnt work, you wont know until it's too late to return it and youll be out some possibly serious dosh.

the parts are all in the links lol

I can't afford to sink 600 bucks all at once. If you remember, I have a baby on the way.

Then put the money away until you have the 600, cuz it will cost you even more if one of your parts turns out to be defective and you can't return it because you bought it months ago. It's a very noob mistake to order parts one at a time instead of all at once and it's very costly :x

I think I'm going to spend my next paycheck redecorating my room with a new desk that I can sit under and a nice chair, then maybe think about building myself a desktop or something in the future.

Lying on my bed all day err day kinda blows. :\

So on a whim I took the HDD out of the external enclosure and put it in my aunt and uncles new computer. All my stuff is still on there and I only fried the external enclosure ppart of it, the hdd inside is still fine. So maybe my next paycheck or two I'll order another external, swap the drives and put the blank in their desktop and put all their CD's on it for them.
